Elevation Burger opened up here in Riyadh at the beginning of the year and man let me tell you they have the best burgers and fries that I have ever had. It is an American branch however I had never heard of them nor had the pleasure of eating there when I was back home. Everything they use is organic and fresh and the fries are gluten free and fried in olive oil. I am such a burger kind of girl and would happily take one over most things. I mean does a cheeseburger ever disappoint you?
The weather has been amazing in Riyadh this past week and I wanted to take advantage of it so we were going to go out for some fresh air and then my husband suggested we go eat at Benihana an American Japanese restaurant we have here and one of my long time favorite places. Back home my family and friends would eat there quite a bit and I could just never see myself tiring of the Japanese Fusion dishes they have.
We had never been to the Riyadh location because most things here are just not up to par as in they usually do not even taste or have anything on the menu the same. I am so impressed tonight and was mad at myself for not trying it out earlier. The place is super clean and the staff is really awesome. Every family gets a private room with a chef that comes in and prepares the meal for you. On our way Talal was crying because he did not want to eat there but I just knew he would love it once we got there and he saw what all they did. He ended up loving it like I knew he would and he adored the show and even ended up ordered filet mignon and rice. We all had such a great time and the chef (Steven) was great at his job. The food was really good but so much luckily I I will be able to have a nice lunch tomorrow.
I have been wanting to try Maya for a while now I mean its a chocolate cafe for crying out loud. My son was over at my in laws for a few hours so my husband and I were able to finally drop by the hayat mall branch. The place is always filled with women and kids and I always tell my husband that we women have a special love affair with chocolate, so true right? We ordered the chocolate fondue and I got a latte as well.
I was kind of disappointed though but maybe it’s because I am a big fondue person and The Melting Pot has always been one of my favorite places to dine. Of course the fruit was great but the rest was just dried out cakes, my latte was so sweet that I could not even drink it and we had a waiter that was kind of rude. It was not all that and I doubt I would ever go back again but at least I was able to finally try it.
What about you do you like fondue?
Every time my family and I travel to Khobar (the corniche area) we always enjoy eating at Brasa de Brazil. It has a beautiful setting on the sea so you get great food and a great view. If you’re not familiar with a typical Brazilian style restaurant basically they have a huge variety of meat and they come around and serve you what you would like. My favorite is Fogo de Chao which we enjoyed in Chicago, Washington DC and Atlanta and if you’re near one you should go, it’s so amazing.
My husband goes for the meat and I go for the massive salad bar so we both end up being pleased. This particular venue served grilled shrimp, lamb chops, lamb leg, ostrich, gazelle, camel, beef, fish and that’s about all I can remember. Ostrich is probably the absolute worse meat that I have ever tried while gazelle is by far one of the best in the world, Arabs love gazelle. If you’re not a huge meat eater like me then you should go for salad bar which has an array of salads, maki, and a buffet which includes items like rice, pasta and vegetables. They also have a pretty nice dessert bar.
