Whats your favorite cookie recipe?

Now that all the holidays are pouring in from all over the world I thought that this would be a perfect time for all of us bloggers to get together for some holiday cheer and what better way to celebrate then by baking cookies? On October the 1st Muslims all over the world will be celebrating Eid. And then in December Jews and Christians will be having their holiday as well. And let’s not forget about everyone else from different cultures and religions. I am sure you all have all kinds of amazing cookie recipes, right?

I am sure you all have one cookie recipe that jogs a happy memory out of you. Maybe it reminds you of baking with your mother as a child or maybe its just one you’re really good at, either way it makes you smile.

I thought it would be really fun to see what everyone’s favorite cookie recipe was. All you have to do is email me your recipe (and a picture would be great if you have one) and then I will get them posted for everyone to see an amazing cookie collection by the amazing bloggers (us). Oh do not forget your name and blog address so everyone can check you out.

And as always “Happy Baking”.

P.S. Speaking of cookies go here and get a free cookie from Kashi, yum!

AsSalamu Alaykum,

These have to be my favorite cookies, the recipe below is very similar to mine, only I use yeast instead of baking powder and let the dough rest for a while. Date filling is my favorite! I sometimes make them in heart shape, using a regular cookie cutter. Of course you have to use to cookie cuts, in order to make one maamoul. Enjoy!

2 cups semolina
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 cup melted ghee
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tbsp. orange blossom water
1 tsp. baking powder
warm milk to the dough
FILLING (choose one of these):
1cup pitted dates
2 tbsp. soft butter
1/2 pound ground walnuts and pistachios
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. orange blossom water

Preheat the oven to 350 F.
Melt the ghee and cool
To make the filling, put the ingredients into a food processor and blend to a paste.
Sift all purpose flour and mix with baking powder, semolina and ghee
Add orange blossom water
Set aside for about 2 hours resting( covered )
Form little balls ( if you don't have the special mold) , about 3 cm., make a hole and fill the cookies.
Place the cookies on non-stick baking sheets, bake for 15 - 20 minutes or until golden.
Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool. When cool, dust with confectioners sugar.

Great stuff... I've trawled around a bit for the best recipes, and there's always a trade-off between speed and style. My preference for the former:
The latter... still looking.
