Ya Salam Cooking is a food website that has a little of everything, but focuses on Saudi Cusine, that’s why I started this site after all back in 2007. However, sometimes saying Saudi cuisine can be a stretch. For example, saying American cuisine is very broad, like in the South the food we eat is very much different from the rest of America. Every country, regions have their own foods, and while I do write about Saudi food in general, in reality the majority of what I talk about is Najdi food.
The Najd (Najdi area) is the central region of Saudi, here in Riyadh. The Hejazi area is to the west of the region, where Jeddah is, Eastern Arabia over in Khobar (love it there) and Southern Arabia where Asir is located. These 4 regions couldn’t be more different in every way, they have different dialects, look different and the food they eat is distinct.
I had to try to collect recipes and links from all the regions to share with you, but the Saudi tourism site already has an amazing collection, and you can learn way more about the country and regions than just the food each one eats.
