Have you ever pulled out a bottle of rose water from your cabinet and wondered the history behind it? It’s crazy how such a little, normal thing can have such a long one. For centuries it has been used for both beauty and food. In the Middle East you will find hand fresheners in most places to spray on you after you wash your hands made with the herbal waters. This is one of the flavorings that was used even in the west until vanilla took over. In Mecca the kabba is cleaned with zamzam and rose water.
Rose and orange water is the distilled essence of the petals. Both have such a lovely scent and can usually be swapped out for one another. The third one pictured is called kadi water, I had no idea what it was when I bought it, but it was the first time that I had seen it so I bought it. I have researched a lot without really finding anything about the water and from speaking with my sister in law and a few things I read my only conclusion is that it’s a medical water. If anyone knows, please let me know. Besides using the waters in my recipes I also like to add a little to my bath or humidifier, which is so calming.
